Resumption of Pacific Coast Squash Doubles Championships

My Fellow Doubles Players,

We at the Multnomah Athletic Club are planning to host you over the long weekend of January 20-23 for our upcoming Pacific Coast Doubles Squash Championships.

I think we can all agree that the "Coast" has always been a season pinnacle for tournament play and accordingly, requires a fair amount of energy to host this event. We are committed to it!

I have asked Vancouver's Brian Covernton to take an early survey of the players from Vancouver/Calgary who would be interested in traveling to Portland for this event in 2022. I feel confident that players from San Francisco and Los Angeles would be decent. Nonetheless it would be good to get an early head count from the University Club, Olympic Club, and the Jonathon Club.

We in Portland stand guarded in keeping John Lau’s torch burning strong. And I know the Winners from 2020 can’t wait to defend their title.

In all fairness, the challenge is to make this event one that is attractive to players from all three regional associations.

We shall run this event with gusto, but I need input to understand if there will be representative interest from doubles players.

We got a little out of sync last year and Portland is anxious to reclaim our part in this iconic event.

More than ever, we need your support to make it happen.

Your response is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary Johnson

UPDATE December 2, 2021

All

We were looking forward to resumption of the Coast Doubles, but due to the present circumstances, we at the MAC are very disappointed that we shall be unable to host this January but are looking forward to 2023 and bringing the Coast back in style.

We will not let this fade away!

Thanks for your understanding.
