The upcoming year of HARDBALL SINGLES Squash!!!
2021-2022 Schedule with suggestions
TIME FOR SOME FUN AND
THRILLING SQUASH COMPETITION
from Tefft Smith
(with slight edits from John Lau)
Hardball doubles AND singles are GREAT games!! GREAT fun!! AND the two games are mutually REINFORCING!!!
Adult tournament play is just starting - here's the schedule
In addition, US Squash has on tap a full season of hardball singles play, starting with the KIVA in Santa Fe (entries closing on 11/22).
As shown in the schedule below, the US Squash National Doubles Championships (Mar 11-13) and the Century Doubles Tournaments
(Jan 14-16) will have companion Hardball Singles Tournaments.
The US Squash Hardball Nationals (May 13-15) will be paired with the US Squash Mixed Doubles National Championships.
Independently, US Squash is encouraging play with the Dunlop hardball singles ball as opposed to playing with the singles softball to better complement hardball doubles.
Those who have tried it know - the Dunlop Singles Hardball (blue, with a black dot) is identical in texture, bounce, and playability to the standard Dunlop Doubles Hardball (blue, with a red dot) that allows making hardball shots (reverse and roll corners, three walls, and even double-boasts) on either the 21’ International or the 20’ converted racquetball courts.
Another noteworthy benefit of the Dunlop Singles Hardball for the wide court is that it allows players to comfortably transition between doubles and singles play; practicing and executing the same essential rail, reverse and roll corner, 3-wall and other classic hardball doubles and singles shots.
If you have not yet tried the new Dunlop ball, you should! It is a GREAT compliment to hardball doubles and a fun alternative to softball singles play. Your club pro should have some; anyone wanting the newly developed Dunlop Hardball Singles balls can get them in boxes of 12, on line through SquashGalaxy.com, Squashgear.com, or Squashproshop.com.
Below is the current US Squash Hardball Singles Tournament schedule, along with some suggestions as venues firm up their plans while emerging from COVID. We urge other local squash organizations to follow the lead of the Philadelphia Squash Racquets Association.
As a way to promote more hardball play and allow preparation for the National Hardball Championships, a Hardball Singles schedule of events has been organized which include suggested dates listed for our other hardball events.
