About ten years ago, I fatefully met Katherine Sapinski and her family. I introduced Kat to our wonderful game of squash and gave her coaching and grooming that this young protege immediately took to. It isn't surprising to me that she had the motivation and the curiosity to become a star. She is a worthy recipient of the DeRoy Junior Sportsmanship Award.
Lesson? Instead of looking for a coach that can help your kid "win", find one that can help them build resilience, grit, and character.
