So sorry to hear this news. Thanks for the way you and Ashley have worked hard to keep his memory alive and his legacy standing.

All,

Sorry to bear the bad news.  I just heard from Laura, Dick's niece, that Dick passed away today at 2:30pm at the hospital.

Laura is planning a 'celebration of his life' video. That she will air in about three weeks.  I don't think it will be a Zoom style chat.

She didn't mention anything about a funeral.  I will ask her for more details on that.

The FOCS committee is planning an event for this summer after we can start meeting in person again to celebrate his life.  I would love to hear what everyone thinks is the best way to celebrate his life.

Best,

Ashley Kayler

I'm sad to think of the passing of a man who gave so much and touched so many lives. Thanks for letting us know, Ashley.

Indeed. Few people positively impacted so many lives as Dick did.

His niece Laura recently called and passed this on:

- his body is being taken to Kalamazoo, MI where he’ll be buried next to his brother and parents.
- Ash, as you said, they will share a “celebration of life” video
- Dick had a more difficult last week with more discomfort but was comfortable and peaceful on the last day.
-She had to tangle with Dick’s famous stubbornness for the past 6 weeks.

Much more impressive than I ever understood.  Truly accomplished.
