Buried Treasure

I came upon this video in my study buried under some books after years of it being lost. I forgot that I had it. So after this discovery, I would like to share it with everyone.

I was fortunate enough to win the US Squash National 35+ Hardball Singles Championships in 1991 at Yale. I had lost the previous year in Rochester to the same opponent, Derrick Niederman. The outcome of the rematch was not decided until overtime in the fifth game at double match point!  I remember  remaining calm and focused by telling myself that whatever the outcome was going to be, I had given my best.

I earned the opportunity to defend the following year in Denver which this video chronicled.  I pleasantly recall that I didn't lose a single game throughout the tournament.

My eldest daughter Rebecca, who was 4 months old at the time, made the trip with my wife and me and opens the video with a cameo appearance. The filming and commentary were provided by my wife, Evy.

Boy.......check out how much hair I had back then.

Merry Xmas everyone!

John
